Essential Preparations for Your Bali Adventure

Before you embark on your Bali journey, ensure you have everything you need for a safe and enjoyable trip. Here are some essentials we recommend to pack and plan for, following our recent trip to Bali:

1 - Get A Local Tour Guide

Be sure to get a local guide, we recommend Michael, a trusted local guide known for his exceptional service. He can help you navigate the island and uncover hidden gems. Contact him at +62 813-3878-7863 to arrange your travel itinerary.

2 - Prepare For The Climate

We recommend making sure you pack SPF 50+ sun cream, as the Balinese sun is intense. Sid got sun burnt for the first time in his life! We also recommend investing in a good mosquito repellent! Bali's natural beauty comes with its share of mosquitoes, especially in the evenings and near rural areas. A good mosquito repellent will make your holiday much more enjoyable.

3 - Have Some Cash To Hand

Not all places accept card payments, especially in more remote areas or for small entrance fees to certain attractions, typically around 1-3 GBP. Ensure you have enough cash to cover these expenses. If you do need to withdraw some money on the island, be sure to only go to trusted places! If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

4 - Stay Hydrated

Bali's tropical climate means staying hydrated is essential. We recommend carrying a reusable water bottle that you can refill throughout the day to keep yourself hydrated. We also recommend adding electrolytes to your water, to ensure you maintain hydration throughout your holiday!

An Example Itinerary For Your Next Visit To Bali:

Day 1: Balinese Culture In Ubud

Morning Rituals:

Kick off your Bali adventure with Michael, our reliable local driver who offers top-notch service at competitive rates. We settled into the serene Kanhara Villa, a pristine and tranquil haven attentive to every detail, ensuring a comfortable stay. Start your day refreshed with a delightful breakfast and a morning swim in the villa's private pool, all while embracing the vibrant sounds of nature in Ubud.

Afternoon Adventures:

We started our day with the exhilarating Bali swing at Aloha Ubud, capturing the essence of Bali with its stunning views. The experience was amazing and we definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Bali. However, we do recommend that you arrive early to beat the crowds!

Following this, we visited the Balinese rice terraces of Ubud. This was a short distance from Aloha Ubud, and for a minimal fee, this picturesque spot offered us a deep immersion into the unparalleled landscapes—perfect for those Instagram-worthy shots.

Evening Exploration:

In the evening we visited a local temple, offering a cultural experience. For those who prefer, this part of our itinerary can be easily skipped. You won’t be missing out on much!

We then had the best experience at Segara Windhu Coffee Plantation, indulging in Luwak coffee - the world's purest and most expensive coffee, all amidst breathtaking scenery and completely free of charge. They take you through the entire process of how the coffee beans are derived and grinded, into the delicious coffee we get to taste. We definitely recommend visiting here!

Night Delights:

Finally, to end the night, we recommend having dinner at Grand Puncak Sari . This restaurant serves not only delicious halal food, but also gorgeous views of Bali and its volcano. The restaurant is renowned for its scenic views, halal offerings, and affordability. This is a must visit halal restaurant in Bali!

Day 2: Ubud Adventures

Morning Thrills:

We geared up for an exhilarating quad biking experience with Best Bali Adventure, navigating through waterfalls, dense jungles, and traditional villages. Not far from there, we discovered the artistry at Silver Village, where exquisite, handcrafted silver treasures are showcased. Although we didn't try it, white water rafting experiences are also available nearby for those seeking additional thrills.

Afternoon Discoveries:

We marvelled at the natural beauty of Timbumana Waterfall. We weren’t completely prepared for the walk up and down the steep steps, but we weren’t disappointed. The views were phenomenal and the best way to fully embrace the stunning surroundings. We highly recommend wearing appropriate footwear here!

Afterwards, we soaked up the sun at Black Sand / Karamas Beach and enjoyed some amazing food at Komune Beach Club. We specifically enjoyed their delicious and affordable signature dishes like fish and chips, chicken schnitzel, and coconut crepes.

Day 3: Luxury & Leisure In Seminyak

Sun-kissed Relaxation:

Begin your day at IZE Seminyak, a beacon of luxury and modern chic, see our review here. Directly opposite the hotel, soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Soho Social, renowned for its exquisite brunch options. This soon became our favourite spot to eat at!

Afternoon Bliss:

Spend your afternoon at Potato Head Beach Club, a sanctuary for relaxation by the sea, designed with families in mind. The club's infinity pool, blending seamlessly with the ocean horizon, offers a peaceful environment for guests. With a focus on providing a serene atmosphere, IZE Seminyak ensures a welcoming space for all, offering access to a variety of halal refreshments and dining options to cater to every visitor's preference. Additionally, there is a prayer room nearby for those needing to pray, making it convenient for our day’s activities.

Evening Indulgence:

As the sun sets, explore the culinary landscape of Seminyak. Dine at Merah Putih, where traditional Indonesian cuisine meets contemporary finesse in an architecturally stunning setting. We really enjoyed the tamarind fish and pineapple crouton sorbet!

Day 4: Island Wonders From Seminyak

Morning Exploration:

Start early with a visit to the vibrant Seminyak markets. Immerse yourself in the local culture, picking up unique Balinese souvenirs and tasting local delicacies. Note, these markets are tourist prices, maybe not as cheap and affordable as you may find elsewhere.

Afternoon Adventures in Nusa Penida:

Journey to Nusa Penida in the late afternoon, a treasure trove of natural wonders. Dive into the crystal-clear waters at Manta Bay and Gamat Bay, where the vibrant marine life awaits. We highly recommend this experience! We do wish we had stayed on the island for at least one night, to explore and experience its natural beauties.

Night Under the Stars:

After exploring Nusa Penida's landmarks like Broken Beach and Angel's Billabong, enjoy a beachside dinner under the stars at Kelingking Beach, savouring fresh seafood while the waves serenade you.

Day 5: Cliffside Serenity In Uluwatu

Daytime Tranquillity:

Discover the allure of Ulu Cliff House, perched dramatically on the cliff edge. Revel in the panoramic views and dip into the infinity pool that blends with the azure sea. These views were absolutely beautiful.

Evening Retreat:

Conclude your day at Mana Beach Club, known for its serene atmosphere and luxurious setting. Here, the focus is on relaxation and enjoying the natural beauty of the surroundings. Settle into a comfortable bean bag, savouring the peaceful end to a day in paradise with family-friendly activities and halal refreshments available to cater to all guests.

Day 6: Rewind & Refresh In Uluwatu

Morning Refresh:

Begin with a nourishing breakfast at Nourish, relishing in the wholesome, organic offerings that will energise you for the day ahead. We quite enjoyed the smoothie bowl, alongside their fish and chicken mains. They also offer fresh juices which are super refreshing in the Balinese heat!

Midday Adventure:

Take a scenic hike along the Bingin Beach cliff path, discovering hidden beaches and surf spots. Absorb the tranquil beauty of Bali's coastline, stopping to cool off in the crystal-clear waters.

Afternoon Serenity:

Spend your final afternoon in Bali at the tranquil Padang Padang Beach, famous for its turquoise water and soft sandy beach. It's the perfect spot to reflect on your journey and soak in the serene Balinese atmosphere one last time.
