I applied to become a teacher when I was 19 years old

Surely I probably would have been the youngest teacher ever in the UK? 👶🏽

However, Covid had other plans for me.

My university told me that all students have been given an extension.

I was fuming 😡 because I had completed my work and submitted it on time too but I had to wait until October.

My postgraduate university told me that they could not do anything and that I would have to apply again the year after.

Nevertheless, I couldn't start my PGCE.

So what did I do that year 🤔

I worked in a call centre...and learned the true reality of the system we lived in 😐

We dealt with the fulfilment of covid swab testing and without going into details the government were making a killing 💰

While my colleagues struggled to make ends meet 😷, the government was making so much money.

What felt like a year wasted, taught me that the system is rigged and the taxes we pay are just a means to fill another rich person's pocket.

I knew I had to find a way out of the UK.

The year after I applied for my PGCE and after gaining experience in the UK Alhamdulillah now I am in my second year of teaching in Qatar.

We plan but Allah is the best of planners.
