“Moving to the Middle East will be better for my deen”

“Moving to the Middle East will be better for my deen”
This is a common reason for many people to move to the Middle East.

However, I’d like to say that there is no magic switch for deen as soon as you move here.

If your deen was weak in the UK, it’s not magically going to change here.

The truth is, that navigating life in the Middle East is a delicate balance between faith and temptation. While the region offers unparalleled opportunities to become a better muslim, it also presents unique challenges that require steadfastness and taqwa.

I’d argue the temptations in the Middle East are more difficult than the ones in the UK.

The materialism, the speed of life and the fitnas here can be difficult. Some parts of this region are even more tempting.

On the flip side:
- You can pray wherever you want
- Halal food everywhere
- Hearing the athaan 5x a day
- Islamic events and masjids everywhere
- You don’t need to worry about the fact that you’re a Muslim at work or anywhere.
- Don’t have to ask for days off for Eid

What else makes life easier as a Muslim in this region?

The point is, it is what you make of it. You can use being in the Middle East as an excuse to make your deen stronger or let your Iman go and fall into the temptations that are here.
